Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson

17 Jan

Really, really enjoyed this book. I’ve had a copy of this for ages but it went missing so I re-purchased this edition and found out I was denying myself a very good read! Treasure Island is a classic for a reason and not only has its title become a staple in every childs make-believe games but so have the characters even if they don’t know it themselves.

Long John Silver with his one wooden leg and his parrot established what has become the known figure for a pirate. In fact as I read this I had Geoffrey Rush’s character in Pirates of the Caribbean in mind for Long John but then of course that’s exactly what his character was probably modelled on! It’s a great story as well as having fantastic characters and I loved the whole whose side is he on and whatnot. It’s a classic, I can’t say anymore.
