Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins (Hunger Games #3)

19 Jan

This was an improvement on both books I couldn’t believe the pace and excitement kept up throughout every page. Katniss has survived and is now living in District 13 with the other rebels and survivors from the fallout in District 12. District 13 is far from how I imagined it as a struggling primitive area. It is high-tech, highly efficient and well run. I loved 13 and thought it was a really interesting environment for the characters who were so used to killing for a meal or just to survive.

However this calm before the storm does not last long and eventually Katniss and her team are in battle in different districts and in the end in the final battle in the Capitol. Some scenes are devastating and so heart wrenching especially for a young adult book. In fact even though I do not think that a tag of young adult for any book is a bad thing I feel that the author deserves more than the name of a young adult author. This is an amazing book that should and will penetrate a much wider audience. I loved it and the ending…oh the ending!
